Alphabet Book

What does one use the alphabet for but to compose words and communicate information?

Here is my submission for the #areyoubookenough_alphabet challenge hosted on InstaGram by Sarah Mo (@AreYouBookEnough).

I created eight minibooks of all the letters of the alphabet and some basic symbols and stitched them in a line to create a long book of pages.  Each minibook can be flipped in sections.  By flipping to the appropriate letters, one can spell any variety of words.  So, the message within the book is not set.  It’s what YOU make of it!

In the photo above, book lying flat open with all the pages ‘fluffed up’.  I think it’s just fun to see them that way.

I've put together a couple of words to demonstrate how the creation of a variety of words and phrases look.

Here, where I've spelled Alphabet, it shows how the book looks standing up.

I’m thinking this could be used to convey a daily message propped up on a work desk and changed every day.  Perhaps many days it says “Welcome!” and then there might be those days when it says “Go Away!”

The materials:  It’s made from a variety of recycled and leftover paper (one vintage sheet music).  The cover is a trimmed down recycled children’s book covered in brown paper and decorated with letters from different books.  The straps to hold the pages in place are just decorative elastic.

What 8 letter/symbol phrases would you create?  If you'd like a picture of it, email me!
